Firstly a very happy new year to you all, I hope this year will bring you all you wish for and I’m sure many of those wishes will be for new ink; I know I’m looking forward to some more ink and have plans to increase my tattoo coverage and I can’t wait.

I love the anticipation of that new piece of ink and that exciting feeling starts to build from the moment I get to speak with my chosen artist and we decide on a time and how the new ink will look. The feeling builds to a crescendo until I finally get to sit in the tattooist’s chair and hear the machine fire up and feel the warm and slightly uncomfortable feeling on my skin as the new tattoo begins.

Some people plan their tattoos months, some times years in advance, usually because their chosen artist is booked and has a waiting list, so they book in and sit back and wait patiently for their time to come...

One way of getting new ink from a foreign or popular artist is to find them working at a tattoo convention where many will work on a first come first served basis where, if you are quick, you could end up getting tattooed by your favourite artist without the expense of travelling to their country.

This year the British tattooing calendar is bulging with more conventions than ever before. There are some new shows and sadly some that are no more but the one thing they all have in common is the opportunity to get tattooed, to meet some wonderful like-minded people and to experience the ‘convention buzz’.

Whilst I am talking about tattoo conventions I can proudly inform you that this year’s Tattoo Jam will be held at Doncaster Racecourse. This gives you a superb brand new and easy to reach venue, wonderful amenities and access to the biggest collection of tattooists in the UK.

We plan to have over two hundred national and international artists attending as well as many other attractions to keep you amused for the weekend. Tattoo Jam ’09 will also host the ARTISTS friDAY again with many artist-only seminars held by some big named artists: from painting workshops, machine building seminars, technical workshops, critique sessions and lots of other tattoo based events as well as the Tattoo Master’s Ball on the Friday night.

In addition to the huge list of artists working over the course of the weekend, there will be other seminars and workshops taking place for all to attend, with live music and entertainment and hosts of other attractions to make this bigger and better than last year.

Hope to see you there!
